Lesson learned from this coffee maker ratings

December 1st, 2008 by coffeemakers

One of the strongest word that impresses me as I read the coffee maker ratings is “can you rate love?”. No, I do not think you can rate love and from there I also change my perception on how one should be rating coffee makers.

But, first what has this got to do with my daily rant about how life and coffee makers are similar. Well, consider this: in coffee maker ratings, we look for numbers to justify how good a coffee machine is, but the truth is, that alone does not ensure a great coffee.

It is the moment spend with a love one that would give one a great coffee -that is a undeniable fact. Similarly, when we are going through life, we often look at the material things that highlight whether one has “make it”, and use it as a measurement of success.

The recent financial crisis has shown that “what it seens, might not be what it is”! Imagine, a century old financial institution collapsing within days and many big institutions brought to their knees.

It seems impossible but looks can be deceiving. How they came down might be discussed in another rant probably known as greed, but in this section, I would be focusing on the looks can be deceiving and dangerous.

Many people in order to make the impression that they have arrived or make it, live in big houses, drive big cars and live lavishly. In the end, when situation happens, once they lose their only means of livelihood, they lost everything.

Things you have does not the measure the level of your success, it is the moments you have with your love ones that matters!

Reading the coffee maker ratings, most contributors did not talk about the great machines that they have. Most of them touches on the moments enjoyed with their love ones. Which I  think is something we can draw from in one living.

Material stuff are the means to enjoy the moments with your love ones. But the enjoyment is the end, is the result that you want. So, even without those material stuff, you can still enjoy the moments, then why would you be so bother with the material stuff?

**Note: Perhaps the author of the site think that money should not be an issue when it comes to enjoying coffee, he is giving a ebook on free coffee for every story that you contribute, that is what i call a sweet deal…

The lesson about krupps coffee maker

November 17th, 2008 by coffeemakers

By any measure, krupps coffee maker is a great machine. It is retailing at a very affordable pricing of $40. It has very comprehensive features and functions that one can only find in the more expensive models that retails above $100.

But, the thing is you cannot use this coffee maker. This is because krupps coffee maker simply does not exists! The thing about this coffee machine is its spelling, it is the wrong spelling.

It should be spelled krups and not krupps. But, everything that we says about krupps is for krups coffee maker. So, what am I going into for this post, small things make a great difference.

Just like the insertion of a “p” makes the different between a brand and no such thing. There are many times in my life, I look distaintfully at the small things in life and would not bother to do anything about it.

Ironically, someone once told me this, which I still think it is very true. If you cannot do the small things in life right, what makes you think you can handle the bigger things in life?

This is very true. And if you do not manage the small issues in your life, it would snowballed and there would come a point that these small issues would be one big situation which you would find difficulty in handling.

Take apology to your spouse and love ones. Never mind that, it is a small issue, but is that what your partner is thinking about? After many such small incidents, he or she might start to have second thoughts about you being a caring person and that is of course not something which you want your love ones to be thinking about right?

And even John Gray the guy who wrote man are from mars and women are from venus says that small gestures but done regularly is what makes a girl happy. It is not the big diamonds and huge presents. It is the surprises that would make the ladies happy.

So, the next time if you are going to wave off this small issue, remembers the krupps coffee maker and the difference a small “p” make.

Do not live in the shadow of coffee maker reviews

October 22nd, 2008 by coffeemakers

Do you like to read reviews? I love them and if I am looking for a new coffee maker, I would definitely read through some coffee maker reviews and see what the experts are saying about the latest coffee machines around.

And of course, I would take their comments seriously. If they say one model is good, even without looking at the model, I would purchase it. Does this sound familiar to you? Have you ever read movie reviews or any other reviews and share the same thoughts with the experts or gurus?

This is what is known as living in the shadow of others. How often have we worshipped idols, read articles by famous writers and even adopt the thinking of others as our own. Not only do we loses out personality but also values when we adopt such mental model.

Recently, a coffee maker review is a fresh start and something which I think we should take a leaf from. This review does not talk about coffee machine, it shares about how to have the perfect coffee experience.

But, do you know that this author actually have it all figure out! Enjoying coffee is never about the best coffee machine or the most expensive coffee maker. It is the moment that you enjoyed with your love one. That moment can never be replaced by any machine.

Similarly, if you are living life, live it with daily learnings and change your life as your experience different aspect of life. In fact, the best way to live life is to live as if it is your last.

The sad thing about life is its over-reliant on material wealth and many people are living life trying to earn enough dough to retire. But, what are you retiring from? Work? If you adopt a different mindset, that of living each day as the last , laughing at different aspect of life, pursuing each moment with your love ones, what is there to retire from?

The shadow of coffee maker reviews are that of the world and the over glorification of wealth. If you live in this shadow, there would be no retirement, because you would always be pursuing “something”, life is about living the experience…

How single serve coffee maker shows us how to live!

September 26th, 2008 by coffeemakers

First of all, do you all know what is a single serve coffee maker? This is a coffee maker that is super easy to use! All one need to do is to insert the cartridge (know as coffee pods), press a button then enjoy the coffee!

Its simplicity is what gets it rave reviews and high acceptance in the coffee maker industry! Many people are buying these single serve coffee maker because it is both easy to use and also easy to clean!

However, some single serve are enjoying better sales that other model and the ones that enjoy better sales are those that are open system. The fact is most single serve coffee makers operates in what you know as a closed system.

That means, if you purchased the coffee machine, you would have to buy their own brand of coffee. If you buy senseo, then you would have to drink douwe ebgerts and nespresso definitely serve nestle coffee.

But, with stiff competition, more and more coffee pods maker are allowing other brands of coffee pods to be used on their machine. And this is what is known as open system and this endears them to many consumers.

In life, it is the same. No matter how good you are, if you are not willing to be open and accept things which might not be positive to your overall structure, then you would be faced with the likklihood of being obsolete.

When you are open, the things that comes along might be good and it might be negative, but if manage carefully, you could be like the single serve coffee maker that are open, more compeititive, thus more popular…

If you ever find life crushing…

August 3rd, 2008 by coffeemakers

I just read a blog recently, it was heart wrenching (enough to get me penned this blog). Well, no matter what people says about my writing, I am a really person and I prefer talking to writing, anyway I was touched by that blog.

In a nutshell, that blog spoke about losing love ones close to you, about how unfair life has been to an individual. Then, somewhere in that blog, there is also a mention of that person date with another person, which makes me wonder if that individual was happy or was worried about life during that scene.

This was my thought process because that person does seems very sad in that blog.

Anyway, since I wanted to be "deep", I might as well relate to a coffee making experience, I was just thinking how I can relate to it coffee when coffee grinders come to my mind.

It is not the finished product but it is one if done wrongly, can result in very bad brew. Too fine, would give dilute coffee while too coarse would give bitter coffee. The grind must be just right for the brew that you want.

Coffee beans are beautiful looking thing, shiny roasted beans and they smell heavenly. But, they are absolutely useless, as they cannot be make into coffee. But, after the grinding, you would get some very not really good looking coffee ground, they are the key to making great coffee!

I think life is like that, you go through it strong and whole, and at times life like the grinder would leave you shattered in pieces and many a times you would feel like a different person. You think and work differently.

But like the coffee ground, you would brew a better life. Through these experiences, you would make others happier, and even make this world a better place. In some other analogy, the end result of this process is very aptly summarized with one word -wisdom.

Yes, that is what you get of the crushing and grinding you get of life….

It is about coffee?

July 31st, 2008 by coffeemakers

Do you like coffee? Have you ever used a coffee maker before? If not, then maybe you would like to check out the coffee makers site that I have assembled. I was actually thinking of shamelessly using this platform to blatantly advertised this site.

But, that would be too shameless right? Anyway, since advertising stuff is not what YOU folks would read, I was thinking "why not do something deeper, more philosphical?"

Like how life can be like coffee makers? How I got this idea was actually from a story that I have read very long time ago about coffee, and this would make the start of this blog.

There was this boy who was complaining about how tough life was and how life was unfair to him and the general grouses. He did it in front of his grandfather, who decided that maybe it was time to teach the boy a lesson.

Nope, he did not use the rod or any sweets to make the boy feels "right", instead, he cook 3 pots of water. In front of it, he places a carrot, an egg and some coffee beans.

He explained that life is like the pots of boiling waters and people can be likened to the 3 objects. Firstly, there are some folks that are like the carrots that are tough but when they went through life (boiling water) and go all soft and weak. That is not how one should be in life.

Then, what about the egg, which is soft and nice but when they went through life, they becomes all hardened. This is not also not how one should be in life.

Lastly, are the coffee beans, they did something different. They changed the water to a delicious coffee drink. And this is how one should be in life, taking charge and making the life better than before!
